Notice Of Annual Meeting – Wednesday, May 24, 2017

Pursuant to Section 3.04 of our By-Laws, you are hereby notified that the Preservation Association of Central New York (PACNY) will hold the Annual Meeting of its members on Wednesday, May 24, 2017 at 6:30PM at the Barnes Mansion, 930 James Street, Syracuse, New York.

PACNY is pleased to have as our keynote speaker Dennis Connors, former curator of history at the Onondaga Historical Association (OHA) and a 2017 recipient of the OHA medal.

The business portion of our Annual Meeting will include: the presentation/election of new board members, and the presentation/election of the new officers of PACNY by Board President Murray F. Gould.

As a membership organization, you elect the Officers and the Board of Directors to manage the affairs of the organization. Presented for your consideration are the names of four (4) individuals to serve on your Board, and four (4) officers to serve the organization. The election of these candidates will take place at our Annual Meeting:

NOTICE OF ANNUAL MEETING – 27 December 2013

Pursuant to Section 3.04 of our By-Laws, you are hereby notified that the Preservation Association of Central New York (PACNY) will hold the Annual Meeting of its members on Sunday, January 12, 2014 at 1:30 PM at Barnes Mansion, 930 James Street, Syracuse, New York.

The business portion of our Annual Meeting will include a report on the affairs of PACNY by Board President Murray F. Gould.

As a membership organization, you elect the Board of Directors to manage the affairs of the organization. Presented for your consideration are the names of six (6) individuals to serve on your Board. Information about these six candidates is enclosed. The election of these candidates will take place at our meeting.

During 2014 PACNY will be celebrating its 40th anniversary and throughout the year we will be featuring events, lectures and tours that will look back on these years. We are pleased to have as our keynote speaker for our Annual Meeting Barbara G. Bartlett, Executive Director of the Lorenzo State Historic Site in Cazenovia. Barbara is one of the pillars of the preservation community in Central New York, having served as Executive Director of PACNY during our formative years.

A reception will follow our business meeting.

Candidates Nominated to Serve on the Board of Directors

Mary Duffin – Mary has recently retired after a long career as an Elementary Teacher at Moses Dewitt Elementary in the Jamesville – Dewitt Central School District. She has been involved with local and state organizations for teaching Social Studies: the Central New York Council for the Social Studies and, as vice president and president, The New York Council for the Social Studies. Mary has brought students and teachers to many historic sites for special programs and encourages the importance of preserving our history to help the future learn from the past. She has been a long time member and board member of PACNY. She has her MA from Syracuse University in Education and lives in Dewitt.

Murray F. Gould – Murray is the founder of Port City Preservation LLC, a consulting and development firm that specializes in the adaptive reuse and rehabilitation of historic properties. Since beginning in the preservation field in 1983, Murray had participated in more than 100 successful projects that include historic homes, mills, industrial facilities, hospitals, downtown buildings, schools, sacred places and public buildings. He is a frequent speaker at preservation and economic development workshops. His work related to historic preservation is diverse, having served as an investor, lender, developer, owner, property manager, project manager, grant writer and consultant. Murray and his wife Ellen reside in the historic William Sabine House in the Valley neighborhood of Syracuse.

Patrick Heaton – Pat is a Project Manager at edr Companies in Syracuse. Pat is an environmental regulatory compliance specialist with expertise in cultural (archaeological and historic) resources, visual impact assessment, and historic preservation planning. He is a Registered Professional Archaeologist RPA) with over ten years experience preparing cultural resource surveys, conducting National Register of Historic Places eligibility evaluations, assessing potential impacts, and proposing avoidance and/or mitigation strategies for archaeological and historic resources. Pat has a BA and MA degrees in Anthropology from Hartwick College and New York University (respectively), and currently lives in Fayetteville, New York.

Bruce M. Poushter – An Attorney and CPA, Bruce is a partner with the Sugarman Law Firm in Syracuse. Bruce holds a B.S. degree in finance from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania; an L.L.M. in Federal Taxation from New York University; and an M.S. in Accounting from Syracuse University College of Law and School of Management. Bruce’s interest in historic preservation is evident through his professional work representing a number of owners and developers doing rehabilitations of historic buildings. Bruce has nonprofit experience through his board roles on the McMahon Child Advocacy Center and the Boys’ Club.

2013_BOD_dagastinoAndrew D’Agostino – Andrew D’Agostino is Vice President with The Community Preservation Corporation. Andrew holds a B.B.A. and an M.B.A. in Business and Finance from LeMoyne College. Andrew’s professional skills include financial analysis and historic rehabilitation. Andrew is interested in the historic rehabilitation of vacant schools in neighborhoods throughout the city of Syracuse.

Margaret Sithole – Dr. Margaret Sithole is an Assistant Professor of Business, Management and Economics with Empire State College / State University of New York. Margaret holds a B.A. in English and History from the University of Rhodesia; and M.B.A. from the University of Zimbabwe; and a Doctorate of Education in Educational Leadership and Higher Education Administration from Idaho State University. Margaret’s interests include the preservation of sacred places.
