The Paul Malo Award is given for projects that juxtapose old and new, demonstrating respect for our past while promoting our community’s future. This year’s recipient, The Vernon Center Schoolhouse, is interesting, as the nomination came from just outside of PACNY’s five-county region in Oneida County. However, we decided it was worth recognizing the hard work turning the school house, turned post office and retail space into a lodging and event center to serve the Vernon Center community.
