PACNY is pleased to present the Jasena R. Foley Award to Tania Werbizky in recognition of her commitment and accomplishments to educate, promote, and advocate for a preservation ethic in Central New York.

Tania Werbizky serves as the Regional Director of Technical and Grant Programs for the Preservation League of New York State. Tania was the first full-time employee of the Preservation League and recently celebrated her 20-year anniversary of working for that organization. As administrator of the Grants Program for the League, Tania has supported numerous historic preservation projects in Central New York. Recent notable examples include: citywide historic resources survey in Cortland (2010); a National Register nomination for African Methodist Episcopal (AME) Zion Churches in New York State (2010); and a survey and National Register nomination of hops-related resources in Madison County (2006). In addition, Tania provides her expertise as an educator and consultant to local non-profit groups, individuals, and municipalities. These services range from advising a group of homeowners in a village as to how to create a historic district to mobilizing efforts to save a threatened building. She has organized an endless number of educational programs and workshops for homeowners as well as professionals.

PACNY sincerely thanks Tania Werbizky for her many years of service to the community as an advocate and educator about history and historic preservation. Our community is a better place as the result of Tania’s efforts.
