Please join us as we celebrate PACNY’s contributions to the preservation of Central New York’s historic resources over the past forty years. We are very excited to reminisce and revel in our achievements with wonderful preservation stories of the past four decades and hope you will join us in this celebration. The evening will include a series of story sharing and discussions shared by those who tell it best.

Robert M. Simpson

2014dec1_Rob_SimpsonRobert Simpson serves as president of the CenterState Corporation for Economic Opportunity (CenterState CEO). CenterState CEO is a regional business leadership organization, chamber of commerce, and economic development strategist, based in Syracuse, New York, representing 2,000 members of all sizes. It serves as the primary business catalyst for development, facilitates regional growth and promotes community prosperity in a twelve-county area through results-driven partnerships, planning and problem solving. Mr. Simpson also serves as president of Syracuse’s business incubator, The Tech Garden.

In 2011, Mr. Simpson was appointed by the Governor to serve as co-chair of the Central New York Regional Economic Development Council (CNY REDC), a commission responsible for coordinating economic development for Cayuga, Cortland, Madison, Onondaga, and Oswego counties. The CNY REDC was awarded the top prize in the state in 2011 and 2012 for the development and implementation of its five-year strategic plan, securing a total of $197.5 million for 147 projects in the region. He has also actively engaged the Brookings Institution to work with the region to develop a Metropolitan Business Plan and a Metropolitan Export Initiative – the region’s most sophisticated planning efforts to date.

In recent years, CEO has received national attention for its innovative, integrated approach to business, economic and community development. Under Mr. Simpson’s leadership, CEO has engaged prominent national organizations, including the Ford, Surdna and Kauffman Foundations, to further this work.

Prior to joining CenterState CEO, Mr. Simpson worked for Defenders of Wildlife, in Washington, DC; served as policy director for the State Environmental Resource Center, in Madison, Wisconsin, and served as assistant legislative director for the Office of John D. Rockefeller, IV, in the United States Senate.

Mr. Simpson is a native Central New Yorker who graduated from Colgate University in 1997. He earned a master’s degree in Public Administration from the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs at Syracuse University. Mr. Simpson, his wife, Corinne Ribble, and their son, Benjamin, are residents of Syracuse.
