Loguen.160The evening will conclude with a very special presentation of Rev. Jermain Wesley Loguen, set as a “Donation Party” at Syracuse’s Market Hall in June 1852. Loguen is welcomed back to Syracuse by his supporters after spending the previous winter and spring in Canada after the Jerry Rescue Incident in October 1851.

Portraying the Rev. Loguen will be Robert Djed Snead, a graduate of Monroe Community College and SUNY – Brockport. Djed is a published poet, playwright, author, storyteller and historical reenactor.

The Barnes Mansion was the home of Underground Railroad supporter George Barnes. Barnes put up $4,000 bail money ($110,000 in 2012 dollars) for two people who tried to help “Jerry” during the “Jerry Rescue.” More about the George & Rebecca Barnes Foundation
