50 Forward: Building the Future of Preservation in Central New York
For more than 50 years, the Preservation Association of Central New York (PACNY) has been a trusted voice for historic preservation in Central New York—advocating for landmarks, sharing knowledge, and celebrating the people and places that define our region.
Volunteer-driven for much of our history, PACNY has made a lasting impact across Cayuga, Cortland, Madison, Onondaga, and Oswego counties. But growing demand and limited capacity made it clear: to do more, we needed professional leadership.
A New Chapter Begins
With the hiring of our first Executive Director in decades, PACNY is undergoing a powerful transformation. In just the past year, we have:
- Successfully listed the Westcott–University Neighborhood Historic District in Syracuse on the National Register
- Launched public programs that reached new audiences in CNY
- Galvanized relationships with community leaders, partners, and professionals
- Strengthened our operations to work strategically, not reactively
This kind of momentum isn’t possible without staff. Now, we need your help to keep moving forward.
Why Your Support Matters Now
To celebrate National Preservation Month, PACNY is launching 50 Forward—a campaign to raise $50,000 by December 31, with a critical milestone of $25,000 by May 31. These funds will help sustain PACNY’s operations, support staff leadership, and lay the foundation for a stronger, more sustainable organization.
And thanks to generous support from the Roy, Kathie and Guy Garnsey Foundation, your donation will be matched dollar-for-dollar, up to $5,000—doubling your impact.
